Who runs RE Skout
RE Skout is operated by Joshua and Ashley Hines, co-founders of Impact Home Team — an active real estate wholesaling and investment business based in Maryland. Our team has closed 500+ acquisitions, and we built RE Skout because the existing directories (Capterra, G2, Software Advice) are not built for real estate operators and the niche vendor reviews online were rarely written by anyone who actually uses these tools to close deals.
That also means RE Skout is not a neutral observer pretending the operator perspective is missing. The perspective is the point. Where we have a material connection — affiliate, referral, partnership, or the operator is a client of Impact Home Team — it's disclosed on the product page itself.
The affiliate side
RE Skout participates in affiliate and referral programs with some of the tools and lenders we review. When you click a link on this site that goes to a provider and you end up signing up or closing a deal with them, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
What this changes
Nothing about the price you pay, and nothing about the editorial.
- It does not change what you pay.Affiliate links never inflate the provider's price — the rate or pricing on the provider's page is the same whether you click through Reskout or get there directly.
- It does not change reviews or scores. Reviews are written by operators, scored against the published rubric, and never edited for sentiment. A product's commission rate does not move it up or down a list.
- It does not gate the directory. We list and review products with no affiliate relationship right alongside the ones that pay us. The point of the directory is comprehensive coverage, not a paid catalog.
Where you'll see the disclosure
On every product page that includes an affiliate link, there's an in-line disclosure right where the link appears — not just in a sitewide footer. The label “affiliate link” is visible on the action that triggers the click.
Where the commissions go
Commissions fund the work behind RE Skout: paying for the rubric and verification systems, paying reviewers (eventually — right now they earn reputation, not cash), and keeping the site independent of any one vendor's budget. Reskout is not VC-funded and is not for sale to any vendor.
