How partnerships work at RE Skout.

Everything you need to know before we list your product. What we need, what you get, and the ground rules we hold ourselves to. Written to be sent by our team to prospective providers — bookmark it.

Who we are

RE Skout is the independent directory of software, lenders, and services for real estate investors.

Founded by Joshua and Ashley Hines, co-founders of Impact Home Team— a Maryland wholesaling and cash-buying business with 500+ acquisitions since 2016. RE Skout exists because the tools operators actually use every day never had a directory built by operators for operators. Capterra is for enterprise. G2 is for SaaS. BiggerPockets is a forum. RE Skout is the review platform an active wholesaler, flipper, or BRRRR investor can trust because it's written by people who actually run the businesses.

We're independent. We're not owned by, funded by, or sponsored by any vendor. The rankings can't be bought. Where we have a commercial relationship (affiliate, referral, partnership), we disclose it on the specific product page and on our affiliate disclosure page.

What we need

To onboard you, send us this in one email.

We turn this around in 3–5 business days. Once your listing is live we send you a one-click claim link that gives you dashboard access to edit anything from there on.

The affiliate side

Here's how we monetize — and why it doesn't change your score.

RE Skout monetizes through affiliate links on some product listings. If your company has an affiliate or referral program, we ask that you enroll RE Skout so we can route CTA clicks (your "Sign up" button) through the affiliate tracker and share revenue on referred sign-ups. This is disclosed on every product page and on our affiliate disclosure page.

Commission rate does not affect anything editorial.Not your review score. Not your category ranking. Not whether we mention you in a guide. Not placement on the homepage or category hub. Providers with 0% commission get the same editorial treatment as providers with 30% recurring. If you don't have an affiliate program, we'll link directly to your website with no commission and still list you normally.

What we expect from an affiliate relationship, if you have one:

  • A publicly documented affiliate signup URL, or a partnership manager we can email
  • Support for tracking parameters (subid or equivalent) so we can attribute conversions
  • A cookie window of at least 30 days (industry standard for SaaS is 30–90 days)
  • Timely payments (monthly is standard; quarterly is a pain but workable)
  • Non-exclusive — we list your competitors alongside you, and we won't sign anything that stops us from doing that

If your program has minimums (e.g. "affiliates must refer 10 customers/year") tell us up front so we can budget for it. If your program requires application review, we're happy to submit an application and provide our audience data — see our media kit.

What you control

  • Your listing copy — tagline, description, features, integrations
  • Your logo, screenshots, walkthrough video
  • Preferred CTA label
  • Who you invite to leave reviews (via your review link)
  • Public responses on individual reviews
  • Your affiliate URL (which is the click destination we route to)

What you don't control

  • Editing, filtering, reordering, or removing reviews
  • Whether a competitor is listed alongside you
  • The scoring rubric every product is held to
  • Paid placement up or down the directory
  • Which providers get inline mentions in our guides
  • The affiliate disclosure that appears on every commercial link

We publish our full scoring rubricso the numbers actually mean the same thing across the directory. If a reviewer submits a review that violates our review guidelines (fake, off-topic, defamatory), we remove it. We don't remove reviews because they're unflattering.

What we won't do

The bright lines.

  • We won't sell placement. No sponsored top-of-list, no "featured" badges paid for.
  • We won't sell review removal. A negative review is not removable through commercial channels.
  • We won't take exclusivity money. Nothing prevents us from listing your direct competitor next to you.
  • We won't fake reviews. Every operator review is tied to a real email, and where we've seeded reviews ourselves during launch, they're labeled as such.
  • We won't hide affiliate relationships. Every commercial link is disclosed on the page it appears on.

These rules aren't branding. They're what makes the directory credible enough to be worth listing on. When a provider asks us to bend one, we say no and refund any onboarding paid to us.
