The pitch

RE Skout is the independent, operator-reviewed directory of software, lenders, and services for real estate investors.

Founded by Joshua and Ashley Hines — co-founders of Impact Home Team, a Maryland wholesaling and cash-buying business with 500+ acquisitions since 2016. The site is Ashley's full-time build and the Hines' operator perspective is the editorial core.

Positioning: we're not Capterra (enterprise-oriented), not G2 (SaaS-generalist), and not BiggerPockets (community forum). We're the review platform an active wholesaler, flipper, or BRRRR landlord can trust because it's written by people who actually run those businesses.

Audience

Who reads RE Skout.

  • Active real estate operators — wholesalers, fix-and-flippers, BRRRR landlords, cash buyers, licensed agents doing investor work
  • Predominantly US market, with our editorial anchored in Baltimore metro (writing draws on 500+ closed acquisitions here). Guides are national in scope
  • Buyer intent, not casual browsers — readers arrive from searches like "best CRM for wholesalers", "PropStream alternatives", "how to comp an off-market deal". They're evaluating tools, not entertaining themselves

RE Skout launched to public traffic in mid-2026 and is early in the SEO ramp. Current directory: 29 provider listings across 5 categories, 7 pillar guides live (4,000–5,500 words each, plus 24 sub-articles in the queue). Editorial standards: no listicles written by SEO shops, no vendor-supplied copy, no "best of" lists sponsored by the #1. Every pillar is operator-voiced with named products linked in-context where they're the canonical example.

Independent framework: our scoring rubric is public. Every provider is scored on results, ease, support, and value. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on every product page and on our affiliate disclosure.

Technical infrastructure

How we handle affiliate links.

  • Server-side click tracking at /go/[slug]. Each click generates a unique subid we append to your affiliate URL as ?subid=<uuid>&ref_source=reskout
  • Standard UTM support on all inbound and outbound links
  • Click log stored per provider with timestamp, referrer, user-agent, country — we can reconcile against your dashboard
  • Cookie-friendly: last-click attribution. We don't claim first-touch and we don't interfere with your program's cookie
  • Product schema + AggregateRating markup on every product page for rich Google results
  • No parasite SEO, no keyword stuffing. Traffic is earned
  • Full affiliate disclosure on every commercial page in the header meta, footer, and inline where the link appears
What we're looking for

What makes a good partnership for us.

  • Recurring revenue-share (for SaaS) or per-close commission (for lenders) — ideally recurring
  • Cookie window ≥ 30 days. Longer is better
  • Standard subid or click-ID tracking support
  • Monthly payments preferred; quarterly workable
  • Reasonable creative-asset library (logos, banners, disclosure text) — or we'll build our own
  • Non-exclusive — we list your competitors alongside you. That's the entire point of a directory
  • An affiliate manager who responds within 5 business days
Editorial line

The one thing we won't change.

Commission rate does not affect placement, ranking, review score, or which providers we mention in guides. We publish that as the entire premise of the site. Every partnership operates on this basis. Providers with 0% commission get the same editorial treatment as providers with 50% recurring.

We think this is the only defensible way to operate a review directory that's worth reading — and the only sustainable way to earn affiliate commissions long-term.
